If you’re going to have impact – you must help people where they’re at, not where you want them to be.
Tune in tonight at 9 pm to hear from Ladele Cochran, Manager of the Ypsilanti Health Center, aka the ‘Nike Clinic’ because they ‘Just Do It’! The Health Center is a boots on the ground partner with Food Gatherers that provides food insecurity screening, hunger intervention and many other wrap-around services while providing value and dignity.
Rather than a food pantry, the clinic created ‘Maggie’s Market Place’ that focuses on ‘prescription for health’. Think about it – how many prescriptions specify to take with food? A lot. More times than not, the patients leave with numerous grocery bags full of nutritious food that they were able to choose themselves – that’s empowering.
Ladele and her team are inspiring beyond measure and investing their one handful of life by empowering others and that my friends, is magical.
